H.E. the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Greece and Bulgaria, Mr. Saleh Al-Ghamdi, together with members of the diplomatic staff of the Embassy, welcomed the Saudi athletic delegation participating in the summer Special Olympics at Venizelos International Airport in Athens, on Friday, June 24, 2011. The delegation was headed by Dr. Nasser Al Saleh and included members representing different sectors of the Saudi media. In his statement to the Saudi Arabian News Agency (SANA), the Ambassador referred to the importance for the Saudi delegation for Special Olympics to participate in these games and demonstrate their excellence and skills. He also said that this group of citizens is very dear to everyone and that the Saudi government under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, provides special care for the well being of the disabled, and spares no effort to look after his people in general and in particular this group of citizens.

In addition, the Ambassador wished the Saudi delegation every success and to win and collect several medals raising the Kingdom’s flag in all international forums. Ambassador Al-Ghamdi also spoke with a correspondent from the Saudi Athletic Channel, saying that after discussions they had with many of the athletes taking part in the games, he expects that these players will bring back to their country numerous winning medals, a reflection of the care they receive from the country’s leadership, the Government and the General Presidency for Youth Welfare with its chairman H.R.H. Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz. Finally, he expressed his hope for the Saudi delegation to succeed in the five athletic events in which they are participating.
