The Report of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee on the UK Government's relations with Saudi Arabia and Bahrain was published today.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom share a historic, special and strategic relationship and it is something that must be cherished and worked on to allow it to expand and prosper. Saudi Arabia regards the UK as a valued friend and an important trading partner.

The parliamentary committee report addresses recommendations only to the British Government. It has no impact or influence on the domestic and foreign policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We look forward to continuing our dialogue with Britain through our usual diplomatic channels.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within the framework of the Joint Security Pact that was agreed at the GCC Manama Summit on 31st December 2000 has an obligation to help guarantee the internal stability of all GCC members. The Kingdom will not allow any foreign power to meddle in the domestic affairs of Bahrain, or any fellow GCC Member.
