His Excellency Abdulrahman Bin Suleiman Al AHMED, Ambassador of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and head of the Kingdom Mission to the European Union greeted in a statement to Saudi Press Agency, the GCC Joint Parliamentary Committee visit to the European Parliament headed by Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Al-Amr, Secretary General of the Saudi Shura Council accompanied by a delegation from the Saudi Shura Council, Consultative Assemblies, National councils and National Assemblies in GCC countries. The program of the visit is planned from 27 to April 28, 2016 and will include a meeting with the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human rights and the European Parliament delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula, as well as meetings with several members of the European parliament.
His excellency stressed on the fact that the parliamentary diplomacy has a prominent role in the growth and development of the Gulf Cooperation Council ties with regional and international countries and organizations, where it aims to illustrate the GCC policies and to acknowledge their role and position in the service of both Arab and Islamic nations' issues and international peace and security through informing European parliamentarians on the stances of the GCC states on various regional and international issues.
His Excellency referred to the purpose of GCC parliamentary committee to strengthen the estimable relations between the two sides and their development in order to serve the common interests. He also pointed out that this visit comes within the framework of fostering of the parliamentary friendship between Saudi Shura Council, Consultative Assemblies, National councils and National Assemblies in GCC countries and the European Parliament, as well as
the unceasing desideratum to continue improving communication, ties and institutional visits and opening more channels for bilateral dialogue between the two sides. It is in fact, a positive step to promote the bilateral relations between the legislative authorities on both sides and to reflect the desire to push parliamentary cooperation towards wider horizons through the exchange of views and opinions on issues of common interest, which is beneficial to their relations and which ensures regional stability and security.
His Excellency stressed on the relations of friendship and cooperation in all fields that embrace GCC countries and the European Union, which is evident in the appreciation of the EU and its institutions and members' for the GCC countries' growing role, both at the regional or international level, and its compliance with upholding international peace and security, and for its worldly recognized initiatives at all levels, politically and economically, and its effective membership in many international and regional organizations and for their efforts and their concrete humanitarian and aid contributions.
