The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Mr. Saleh Mohammad Al-Ghamdi held a Grand reception on Wednesday 23rd September 2009 at the Great Britain Hotel of Athens to commemorate the 79th National Day of Saudi Arabia. The reception was attended by all the Ambassadors and Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to Greece as well as a number of Saudi Nationals visiting or living in the Greek Capital. The Greek government was represented by H.E. Mr. Spyros Flogaitis the Greek Minister of Interior and Mr. Aristides Sandis the Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Dora Bakoyianni as well as Mr. Constantine Georgiou the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic.
The Ambassador Mr. Saleh Al-Ghamdi delivered a brief speech in which he spoke among other things about the inauguration of the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz University of Science and Technology. He said the inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of Heads of States and Governments. He described as well the new University as a qualitative step towards the educational renaissance which the Kingdom of the Saudi Arabia is going through under the leadership of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz and went on saying that the opening of such a University constitutes a kind of educational revolution that will benefit not only the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but also the entire region and the world.
A video film on the said University was shown simultaneously with the Ambassador’s speech and a sufficient number of information was released on the project and the short time it required for its realization and the building of its premises.
The people who attended the reception expressed their admiration for such an impressive work that was done in a record time. They asked the Ambassador to convey to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi people, their warm congratulations for this fabulous achievement.
Delicious Arab food and delights as well as Arabic coffee were served to the guests. On their way out the guests received information material on various developments in the Kingdom.
