His Excellency Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Netherlands, Ziad Al Atiyah, visited the Fakhr program camp, and attended the dinner held on the occasion of the camps stopover in the Netherlands halfway through their training in Europe. His Excellency addressed the athletes expressing his admiration for the Fakhr program; which is a program that specializes in medical and sports rehabilitation. His Excellency reiterated that this program reflects the interest of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, and is also one the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, implemented by the Ministry of Sports. His Excellency added, “A person can resist and face difficulties to overcome them, and I congratulate you for what you have achieved regardless of whether you are a team member or have made  a sport achievement.”
Launched by the Minister of Culture, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul-Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, on Sunday July 4, this program falls under the Quality of Life Program towards achieving the goals of Vision 2030. The idea of the "Fakhr Program" initiative is based on rehabilitating people with disabilities, discovering and developing their sports aptitudes, improving their quality of life, enhancing their community participation in sport, establishing local and international training camps to give them opportunities to compete and represent Saudi Arabia in local, regional and international forums.
The activities of this program will be held over a year, and include providing health and physical rehabilitation services to Saudi participants of both sexes, training each participant in one of the four sports fields that suit their capabilities, namely shooting, weightlifting, basketball and athletics, in addition to providing prosthetic limbs and sports chairs for walking. The program also includes organizing three local and international camps for about 350 Saudis, for professional training in each game, with the participation of trainers and physiotherapists and organizing competitions that enhance their abilities to practice sports. At the end of the program, the athletes continue training in local sports centers and pursuing their passions well after the end of their training with Fakhr program.
