The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of India Mr. Saleh Mohd. Al Ghamdi hosted a reception and dinner in honor of the large delegation of Saudi civil society organizations currently visiting India. The reception was attended by Arab Ambassadors in New Delhi as well as leading personalities of the Indian civil society who were delighted to interact with the members of Saudi Delegation and were very impressed by their sophistication and intellectual and literary maturity.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador welcomed the delegation and guests and presented to the gathering a few examples of the creative achievements of the delegation members. Mrs. Nemah Ismail Nawab recited some of her English poems, which were greatly appreciated by those present. She was followed by Mrs. Fatin Bundagji who spoke about the role of women in the Saudi society and the support being extended to them by the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in all walks of life. She also pointed out to the respect and rights of women in Islam, which are a part of the established traditions of Saudi society.
Dr. Rashad Mohd. Hussain, a prominent member of the Saudi delegation delivered a talk elaborating on the visit of the Saudi civil society delegation which, he said, is aimed at apprising the friendly people of India of the positive efforts being made by Saudi civil society organisations in various walks of life in order to strengthen the values and principles and encourage interaction with other cultures and civilizations.
Dr. Najma Heptullah, Member of Indian Parliament, also spoke on the occasion. Welcoming the Saudi delegation, she said that the visit of this long-awaited delegation to India is a matter of great happiness, hoping that the exchange of visits between the civil society institutions of the two countries will further strengthen the historic relations between the two friendly nations.
