The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Republic of India Mr. Saleh Mohd. Al-Ghamdi attended as Chief Guest, a function organized by Jamia Hamdard University in New Delhi on Sunday 28th January for distribution of prizes to the meritorious students in academics and sports for the year 2006.
Upon his arrival at the venue of ceremony, the Ambassador was received by the Vice Chancellor and faculty members of the University and the Saudi National Anthem was played while a group of students accompanied the music repeating the words of the National Anthem.
In his speech on the occasion, Ambassador Al-Ghamdi conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince and Government and people of Saudi Arabia and wished all those present a happy New Year of the Hegira. He congratulated the students and faculty members on their academic achievements and expressed his pleasure on being invited to this year’s prize distribution ceremony.
The Ambassador also referred to the historic visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to India in January 2006 which paved the way for stronger relations between the two friendly countries in all fields including education.
It is worth mentioning here that Jamia Hamdard is one of the prominent universities of India having students from all sections of the Indian society. It has a number of colleges and faculties including medicine, engineering and information technology. It is also one of the universities recommended by the Ministry of Higher Education of Saudi Arabia.
