The Arab Diplomatic Corps in the Indian capital celebrated on Tuesday, 25th March 2008, the 63rd Anniversary of the League of Arab States. The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to India H.E. Mr. Saleh Mohd Al-Ghamdi, in his capacity as Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps, extended invitations on behalf of Arab Ambassadors to the members of diplomatic community accredited in New Delhi, senior government officials and prominent personalities of the Indian society for the commemorative function. H.E. Mr. E.Ahmed, Minister of State for External Affairs represented the Government of India in the function.
The Chief Representative of the Arab League Mission in New Delhi, Ambassador Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi, in his opening remarks, welcomed the distinguished guests and praised the growing relations between the Arab countries and India. He also thanked the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for sponsoring the function.
Thereafter, the Hon’ble Minister Mr. E. Ahmed delivered a speech in which he reaffirmed India’s consistent and unwavering support to the Arab causes, especially the Palestinian cause. He also spoke of the long historical relations between India and the Arab world.
Ambassador Saleh Al-Ghamdi and the Chief Representative of the Arab League Mission received the Hon’ble Minister of State Mr. E. Ahmed on his arrival at the venue of function in Hayat Regency Hotel.
