Saudi-Singaporean relations go back to before the independence of Singapore when King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz appointed on November 4, 1964, Mr. Dato Sayed Ibrahim Omar Al-Saqqaf as consul general of the Kingdom in Singapore. After the independence of the Republic of Singapore in 1965, Mr. Al-Saqqaf presented his credentials as the Kingdom's general consul to the Republic of Singapore on 17 May 1966, On November 10, 1977, the two governments decided to raise the level of diplomatic representation between them, and their missions in each of the two countries were transferred to an embassy.
The bilateral relations between the Kingdom and the Republic of Singapore are characterized by stability and mutual respect, and there is a great consensus between them on many regional and international issues. The Kingdom's various policies are appreciated by the Singaporean government, especially the distinguished services provided by the Kingdom of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. The relations between the Kingdom and the Republic of Singapore are witnessing growth and development in all fields, especially in the economic, investment and commercial fields, Singapore also looks forward to contributing to the projects that the Kingdom plans to implement through its promising vision 2030, which adopts economic openness in its relationship with all friendly countries. In addition, there is continuous coordination between the concerned authorities in the two countries in various fields, including the exchange of information and experiences. Scientific, especially in the field of techniques used to combat terrorism.
In recent years, there has been an exchange of visits and official meetings between senior officials in the two countries which reflects the excellent relations between the two countries, the most prominent of which is the official visit of Her Excellency the President of the Republic of Singapore, Mdm. Halimah Yacob, to the Kingdom from 4-8 November 2019, during the visit she met with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, who conferred her the King Abdulaziz Medal at the Royal Palace in Riyadh. That visit was distinguished by being the first official state visit of a Singaporean president to the Kingdom in the history of relations between the two countries.
