Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Mohammad bin Naif bin
Abdulaziz chaired the weekly Cabinet session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on
this afternoon. The Vice Custodian of
the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Cabinet on the results of meeting of the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz with King of Bahrain
Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The Cabinet commended the convening of the second meeting of the
Global Coalition to Counter ISIL: Joint Plenary Session at Joint Base Andrews,
Maryland near Washington DC, in which the Kingdom's delegation, headed by the Deputy
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, discussed the strategic objectives for the
next phase and how to confront the spread of Daesh (ISIL/ISIS) outside Iraq and
Syria.
The Cabinet welcomed the statement issued by the 25th session of
the Joint Ministerial Council of Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States and
the European Union in Brussels, and its emphasis on the importance of further
strengthening their relations in light of regional challenges to serve an
effective basis for regional and international stability and security.
The Cabinet renewed the Kingdom's strong condemnation and
denunciation of the terrorist bomb attack in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and the
armed terrorist attack in Munich, Germany, and expressed the Kingdom's
condolences to Afghanistan and Germany on the victims of terrorism and its
wishes of a speedy recovery for the injured. Saudi Arabia calls for concerted
international efforts to combat this dangerous phenomenon, which is not
approved by all heavenly religions and international norms.
The Cabinet was briefed on the launch of the King Salman Center for
Relief and Humanitarian Aid of the report on humanitarian aid provided to the
injured Yemenis, stressing that the report really embodies the leadership of
the Kingdom for relief and humanitarian works in general and for Yemen and its
people in particular, in line with the teachings of the tolerant Islamic
religion.
The Cabinet concluded its session after discussing a number of
domestic topics including approval of the agreement between Saudi Arabia and
Tunisia on cooperation in the field of defense as well as the approval of a
cooperation arrangement with Brazil in the field of sports. The Cabinet also approved the accession of
Saudi Arabia to the membership of The Hague Conference on Private International
Law.
