​Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries which announced the recognition  of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The protocol was signed and established of diplomatic relations in 04/20/1994 when Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. (Qanat Sawdabayev) visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and has opened the Kazakhstan Embassy in Riyadh in May 1996. To reciprocate this achieve Saudi government has opened the Saudi embassy to the Republic of Kazakhstan in May 1997. The current Saudi ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan is Ambassador / Abdul Majeed al-Hakim. In September of 1430 the embassy has been relocated to the new capital (Astana)
